Taxonomy
The hierarchical structure of categories and subcategories used by Mulgablomk to organise information. The taxonomy defines where each item sits within the system and how it relates to other items. It is maintained by the platform team and may be updated over time.
Category
A named grouping within the taxonomy. Each category holds items that share defined characteristics. Categories can contain subcategories, and a single item may belong to more than one category if its attributes span multiple areas of the taxonomy.
Classification
The process of assigning an item to one or more categories within the taxonomy. Classification is performed according to rules maintained by the Mulgablomk team. The classification of an item determines where it appears in the interface and how it can be located.
Entry
A single item of information held in the Mulgablomk system. Each entry has attributes that are used during classification. An entry is displayed to users in a structured format that highlights its key attributes and its position within the taxonomy.
Attribute
A property of an entry that is used to describe it and to determine its classification. Attributes vary depending on the type of entry. The classification rules specify which attributes are examined and how they influence the assignment to a category.
Cross-reference
A connection between two or more entries that share a meaningful relationship, even if they are located in different categories. The cross-reference function makes these connections visible in the interface, allowing users to trace related material across the taxonomy.
Interface
The user-facing layer through which information in the Mulgablomk system is accessed. The interface presents entries in a structured format, supports navigation through the taxonomy, and provides access to the enquiry function.
Access level
A designation that determines which content a user can see. Mulgablomk distinguishes between content that is accessible to all visitors and content that requires an approved access request. The interface indicates which content falls into each category.
Enquiry
A message submitted by a user through the Connect page. Enquiries may ask questions about the platform, request access to restricted content, report an issue, or seek clarification on a piece of information. Each enquiry is reviewed by the support team.
Access request
A type of enquiry in which a user asks to be given access to restricted areas of the system. An access request is reviewed by the support team and may be approved, declined, or subject to follow-up questions. Approval is not automatic.
Support team
The Mulgablomk staff responsible for reviewing enquiries, managing access requests, maintaining the taxonomy, and responding to questions about the platform. The team operates from Melbourne, Australia, during business hours.
Structured display
The format in which entries are presented to users within the Mulgablomk interface. The display is consistent across categories and is designed to highlight key attributes, support comparison between entries, and reduce visual clutter.
Scope
The domain of information covered by the Mulgablomk system. Items that fall outside the scope are not held in the system and are not accessible through the interface. The scope is defined by the platform team and may evolve as the taxonomy grows.
Classification rule
A defined instruction used to assign an item to a category. Classification rules specify which attributes to examine and how those attributes map to the taxonomy. Rules are maintained by the platform team and applied consistently across all new entries.
